How Do You Use Instagram Reels to Market Your Business?
With 1.3 billion users in 2020, Instagram is still a powerhouse tool for social media marketing. Not only that but since its inception, Instagram has been downloaded around 3.8 billion times.
Whether you want to get in on the Instagram reel action or use the app to share photos of your holiday, with new updates continuously rolling out, we understand how challenging it can be to keep up with what's trending.
If you want to learn exactly how to make a reel on Instagram, then read on. Creating reels is easy. Learning how to master them? That's a whole other story.
What Are Instagram Reels?
Back in 2020, Reels were a completely new set of tools that allowed users to cut and film 3 to 30-second videos, (which answers the question of how long Instagram Reels can be), using some powerful editing tools that add text, music, stickers, and other special effects and filters. There's a lot of debate about whether to use Instagram reels vs TikTok, and they each have their merits.
For now, let's look at how to use Instagram Reels.
By tapping the Reel icon at the top of the Explore screen, users can access the never-ending Reels stream. Unlike Instagram Stories, Reels won't disappear after 24h, making them a great tool for content production and marketing.
Creating and Publishing an Instagram Reel
Thankfully, the production process for learning how to create an Instagram Reel is not extensive. There are only four basic things you need to keep in mind when you select reels. Within the bounds of that, you can explore many possibilities.
Storyboard Your Ideas
Begin by deciding on a goal for your reel, and then plotting out how you'll achieve it shot by shot. Keep in mind that you only have 30 seconds to play.
You can also use this time to search for a song that works with your idea. You can do this by exploring the Instagram music library.
Shoot Your Video
Open up Instagram and make your way over to the 'create' icon. It looks like a small cross inside a square. A drop-down menu will appear where you can select the Reels tab. Additionally, if you go to your Instagram camera, you’ll find reels at the bottom of your screen.
To make your reel, use one (or all) of the four creative tools. You can find and use audio in your clip, play with video speed, add filters and effects, and even set a timer, which will set the total length of your video.
Press and hold the record button. If you've chosen to use a timer, a countdown will appear before the recording begins. When you're finished, press the record button to end the previous clip before recording a new one. To record a new clip, tap it once more.
You also have the option of uploading a video from your camera roll and selecting the most appropriate clips, and, if you’ve pre-filmed a video using a tripod stand to record, you'll be able to work with your clips hands-free.

The Align button will appear beneath the timer after you've recorded one clip. This allows you to make seamless transitions by lining up elements from the preceding clip. After you've completed the recording, you can add drawings, text, and stickers to your reel while including key hashtags.
Share to the World
To share a reel with the world, tap the > button in the lower right-hand corner. If you have a public account (which is required for businesses and brands), then your reel will be available to the world.
You want to do some research on learning when the best time to post Reels on Instagram is for your demographic, and what to do if your Reels are not working.
‘Reel’ Techniques for Marketing Your Business
It's time to reconsider your social media approach if Reels aren't on your radar. Things change quickly in today's digital environment. While Reels has been around for a little while now, it has shown no signs of slowing down and continues to be a powerful tool for marketing and promotion.
Showcase New Products and Services
With clever subtitles and AR (augmented reality) overlays, you can promote your products and services. You can either discuss the advantages or show how something works. You can even provide extensive insights into your products and services by combining photos and video samples.
Answer Quick, Common Questions
To answer target customers' pain points, service-based businesses should make bite-sized "how-to" videos. For example, if you're a visual artist trying to make a name for yourself, discuss the best ways to have a painting or print framed.
By answering questions, you're positioning yourself as an expert. People like experts. They buy from them.
Behind-the-scenes content gives your company a human touch. You can provide a glimpse of your workplace (or business) or how your team collaborates to complete tasks. You can also share off-work Reels of family time, company lunches, or trips, though make sure you're interspersing these with business-related content.
Share Exclusive Deals and Sales
You can use Reels to advertise your product's discounted sale offerings or even form partnerships with other small businesses to give discounts on their goods and services. Clothing
Best Practices for Reels
While we know the world of marketing is all about experimenting with new trends and ideas, there are a few last points we want to discuss before sending you off into the wide and exciting world of social media.
Dive into Research
You know who your target market is, so spend some time watching Reels that appeal to them. If you don't know, do your research and find out. It's critical for your success. It's also worth looking at what your competitors are doing with Reels.
If you're stuck for ideas, look back on some of your other popular postings across all of your channels. It's also worth looking at your website's stats to see which blog entries have gotten the most organic traffic. Then, on Instagram Reels, come up with unique and innovative methods to share the same information.
It’s Not about the Hard Sell
The purpose of the Instagram Reels app is not to sell your goods or service to the audience. Instead, their primary goal should lie in capturing the attention of your ideal customer and positioning your company as an industry leader or go-to brand.
